Four Reasons Not to Miss Rockstar Mayhem Festival
This year's metal festival season is in full swing, and you might be feeling a little overwhelmed what with All Stars Tour, Warped Tour and Summer Slaughter Tour already having passed through Houston. Maybe you're burnt out, but it's time to get ready for one more: Mayhem Festival.
This year's might be the best of all four of the aforementioned metal fests, and there's a lot of reasons you probably shouldn't skip it, even if it means slamming yet another ten Red Bulls. However, we've narrowed it down to five damn good reasons to go for it.
4. It's The Last Big One
Like I mentioned before, there's been a lot of metal festivals this year, and even your really huge metalhead might feel a little bit burnt out. But this is the last big, huge metal tour of the year with major headliners.
We're excited about a lot of the local fests too, of course. Dimefest 8, Building Temples from Death, and Darkside Metal Madness Cancer Benefit for the Life Support Project are all coming up, looking awesome, and featuring some great local metal bands. But this could be your last chance to see Mayhem's lineup on tour for the rest of the year.
3. The Return of Suicide Silence
On November 1st, 2012, Suicide Silence vocalist Mitch Lucker tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident. Many thought the band couldn't continue afterwards. Lucker was the heart and soul of the band, their voice and chief songwriter.
However, the band found solace in Eddie Hermida from All Shall Perish, who has taken over for Lucker and continued to band as a tribute to him. The band has come back with an album called You Can't Stop Me, featuring lyrics left behind by Lucker, and this will be their first date in Houston since making their comeback.
