The 10 Best Concerts In Houston This Weekend: Pearland Crawfish Festival, Sleigh Bells, etc.

Quiet Company
Warehouse Live, April 4

Quiet Company are quickly becoming Houston's favorite Austin band, which must make Bob Schneider's crew a little nervous. It's was hard not to get swept up in the dapper five-piece's symphonic rock in the grand tradition of The Who or ...Trail of Dead ("You, Me & the Boatman"), cut with a little power-pop on their outstanding albums We Are All Where We Belong and A Dead Man On My Back. In concert, sometimes they'll break into the theme song from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, too. CHRIS GRAY

Pearland Crawfish Festival
Shadow Creek Ranch, April 4-6

Until one of Houston's pro sports teams comes up with a championship, this area will just have to be stuck with its rabid case of crawfish fever. This weekend at Shadow Creek Ranch, bags upon bags of juicy mudbugs will be thrown into pots and sacrificed with just the right amount of spices so thousands of your neighbors can partake in one of Houston's favorite springtime rituals.

Here the music, spread over the Houston Blues Society Stage and U.S. Backline/Texas Hot Country Stage, is just a small but significant part of the fun -- there's also armadillo races, crawfish and funnel-cake eating contests, pony rides and one or two other attractions -- to go with these performers: John Egan, The Mighty Orq, Van Wilks, Come See My Dead Person, Sawdust Road, Luther and the Healers, Trudy Lynn with Steve Krase, Annika Chambers & the House Rules Band, the DelToro Richardson Band, and many more. Better to just look at the full list, and get your hands on all the moist towlettes you can stuff into your pockets. CHRIS GRAY

White Denim
Fitzgerald's, April 5

White Denim had a neat little national-breakout moment recently during Jimmy Kimmel Live's weeklong SXSW residency, after they broke wide last year with fourth album Corsicana Lemonade. The four-piece deconstructs several different strands of rhythmically-oriented rock -- post-hardcore, math-rock, Les Savy Fav, .38 Special -- to arrive at a sort of advanced boogie. Austinites have gone apeshit for them for years now, and Fitz could be be a slight comedown from their headlining spot at Stubb's outdoors Thursday night, but White Denim is probably not looking to take it easy on anybody. House of Blues, April 6

Whenever we think of Chromeo, we can't help but think of the song the Canadian duo did for Nickelodeon's Yo! Gabba Gabba, "Nice N Clean." Even toddlers need a little Chromeo in their lives. But even without their sharp sense of humor, it would be hard to dislike Dave 1 and P-Thugg. With sixth studio album White Women on its way next month, their funky, throwback tunes like "Needy Girl" are just what we need to get summer started. ANGELICA LEICHT
