The 10 Best Aqua Teen Hunger Force Musical Guests
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, also known by its alternate titles Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1, Aqua Something You Know Whatever, and Aqua TV Show Show, has been one of the most bizarre and ubiquitous shows in television history. As an 11-minute animated feature on Adult Swim, it's been enormously successful, spawning a film and ten seasons and counting.
It's crazy how popular the show has been and how long it has survived, especially given that every other show it debuted with in 2001 has since ended or been canceled. Nevertheless, Aqua Teen survives and has a massive cult fanbase.
Since show creators Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis are both musicians and big music fans, it should come as no surprise that they've managed to attract some big names to their obscure, weird TV show. Some of the best episodes, in fact, have centered on the latest rock star or rapper to show up and wreak havoc in the Aqua Teens' world. Today, let's take a look at the ten best of the bunch.
When the spirits of dead elf slaves start haunting Carl's house and making it bleed everywhere, there are only two options for him: find a buyer for his house, or pleasure the Great Red Ape. Sexually. Of course, he chooses the former, and he finds the one man who would want a bloody, haunted house.
As per Aqua Teen's usual dedication to black comedy, "Party All the Time" featured a dark storyline revolving around Frylock suffering from skin cancer and progressively getting worse throughout the episode. To cheer him up during his chemo, Shake, Meatwad, and Carl throw a party for him with special guest Andrew WK. It doesn't quite go as planned.
Because the old birthday song was boring, Shake decides to record his own rock birthday song featuring Geddy Lee and Zakk Wylde. Only one problem though: he forgot to pay anyone involved. That's right about the time Wylde shows up to get his money or his revenge.
A billboard in Jersey features the striking image of Jesus in the butt of a shotgun, or at least everyone thinks it's Jesus. Actually, it turns out that it was Ted Nugent all along, who shows up wielding a flaming crossbow to the delight of superfan Carl.
The nerdcore rapper and longtime Adult Swim associate MC Chris has shown up several times. He first appeared as MC Pee Pants, a giant spider wearing a shower cap and a diaper. After being killed by Frylock, he returns by the power of Satan in various other forms, first as a cow (Sir Loin), then a worm, then an old man (Little Brittle), and finally as a fly in the movie.
When the Aqua Teens are abducted and put in a giant spiderweb by their landlord Markula, who is refusing to fix the gas leak in their home, Carl is put in charge of leasing out the house to new neighbors. One of set of tenants ends up being three sirens: Chrysanthemum (Neko Case); BJ Queen (Kelly Hogan); and baseball legend John Kruk, who engage in freaky sex games that Carl desperately wants in on.
