Kanye West & Kendrick Lamar Finish Fall Tour In Houston December 7

New daddy Kanye West must want to get out of the house. This morning on Twitter the headline-grabbing rapper announced his first solo tour in five years, which closes December 7 at Toyota Center, according to West's Web site.

West is supporting Yeezus, his sixth solo album besides 2011 Jay Z collaboration Watch the Throne. Despite an elaborate hype campaign that included a bizarre appearance on Saturday Night Live, plenty of TMZ-type coverage, and projecting his "New Slaves" video onto the side of a building in several cities across the world -- including, almost, Houston's Rothko Chapel -- Yeezus hasn't been the blockbuster West was hoping for.

Perhaps a little too high-concept for radio, the Rick Rubin-produced Yeezus set a new record with an 80 percent sales drop its second week after debuting atop the Billboard 200 in June. According to complex.com, the RIAA certified the album gold (sales of at least 500,000) last month. Billboard reported its first-week sales as 327,000; the album is currently No. 38 on the chart.

None of this will affect ticket sales much, we suspect. The tour begins October 19 at Seattle's Key Arena, with twentysomething L.A. star Kendrick Lamar acting as direct support the entire run.

No ticket information is available yet because we have not seen anything from either the venue or presumable promoter, Live Nation. We'll let you know.
