We've rounded the bend to the last few days of Super Happy Fun Land's SXSW Overflow Festival 2013. There are only a few acts left, so get down there!
THURSDAY, MARCH 21
Stanley and the Search: "I would describe our sound as half punk and half indie with a sprinkle of Melody," says bass player Omar Loera. 9 p.m.
Alien Knife Fight: "Gothic blues" from Austin. 10 p.m.
Dead Mineral: Self-described as "instrumental psychedelic self-indulgent rock," this quartet just wants you to have a good time and drink from their free keg. 11 p.m.
FRIDAY, MARCH 22
The Witherees: "We aren't looking for just exposure," says lead singer Michael Castillo, "we want to people to see us a representation of a more matured Houston punk and underground indie scene.
"We still have fun and keep up with the best of them, but our songs are about real life and experience, not just ideas, anger, or wishful thinking," he adds. "We hope people, not only get up and dance a little, but also relate to the lyrics and/or get inspired to at least reflect." 9 p.m.
Flux Bikes: SHFL owner Brian Arthur was especially excited about this is the local band. Billed as "minimalist experimental electronic," Flux Bikes also plans to incorporate, well, bikes into their set in some way . 10 p.m.
Skyline FiftyFour: A local band named for the Houston skyline. 11 p.m.
Another Pearl Harbor: "Art rock influenced by explosions in the sky, tool, pixies and many more," says Jacob Smith, the trio's drummer. Plus, they have the distinction of being the festival's final band. 12 a.m.
