Top 10 Educated Guesses for Free Press Summer Fest

THE MOVING SIDEWALKS/ZZ TOP
Thanks to last year's choice reissue The Complete Collection, Billy Gibbons has resurrected his pre-ZZ Top band for one New York City date next month and one at the Austin Psych Festival in late April, but hasn't announced any Houston plans. We mean, come on...

Estimated Odds: 33 percent. ZZ Top's schedule lists three open weeks between a casino gig in Biloxi, Miss., and several weeks of European dates starting mid-June. Now would be the time. As for ZZ itself, we all know it's inevitable, and the Chronicle even admitted as much, but whether or not it's this year is up in the air. CHRIS GRAY

NINE INCH NAILS
Earlier this week, Trent Reznor announced he'll be bringing the Nails out on the road this year with a lineup including King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew(!), ex-Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery and Telefon Tel Aviv's Josh Eustis. His plans for NIN stretch well into 2014, so a surprise FPSF appearance would be a hell of a way to work out the kinks -- and a hell of a way for the festival to grab something more than regional headlines.

Estimated Odds: 10 percent. This is just a stone-cold hunch, but it would be quite a coup for FPSF. Either way, Houston is almost assured a spot on Reznor's announced but as-yet-unplotted fall U.S. tour. CHRIS GRAY

Other "Wild" Guesses: Bob Dylan (why not?), She & Him, Mobb Deep, Alabama Shakes, Flaming Lips, Geto Boys

Don't bands have clauses in their contracts with venues not to play a show within x miles for y amount of days?

And Animal Collective can keep on playing in Austin, that's too close as it is.

They posted a Postal Service video a little while back, and tour dates fit, so I'd put that at like 95%. Wilco and Kendrick Lamar would make me real happy, and Baroness would also be awesome. Also I'd add the Arctic Monkeys to the list of likely people. or at least, they better be there, with these tour dates- http://www.arcticmonkeys.com/gigs.php

I'll give you my guesses...heck, i'll almost confirmt this: 99% chance.

Alabama Shakes is a lock, The Postal Service is also a lock and since Jenny is touring with them, Wilco will have to be a lock. Kendrick Lamar should be a lock because he's the most obvious hiphop act, as for Destiny's Child.....I'M SO GLAD THEY CAN'T AFFORD THEM!

@flacorock312 Alabama Shakes is booked in Colorado for Sunday, so that seems like a reach. As far as hip hop, I'm personally hoping for Public Enemy. :)

I would put The Damned on that list too. They're in Austin on the 30th and would fit nicely in the slot The Descendents filled last year.

Pulling for baroness, that would RAWK.. Also my bloody valentine, though I believe they're not fans of festivals. I just hope the festival maintains it's diversity; I don't want to see it devolve into the fiasco of crap that is this year's rodeo lineup.

I keep hearing all of these rumors about Daft Punk, too.  I'm hoping for Postal Service.  And wow, Craig, if you really think Wilco is a strong possibility, yay!!!  (AM I A WINE DRINKER???)

One of those Black Flag splinter bands maybe?

Daft Punk, Iggy, Postal Service and Deftones are my guesses for top bills.
