Welcome to the Rocks Off 100, our portrait gallery of the most compelling profiles and personalities in the far-flung Houston music community -- a lot more than just musicians, but of course they're in there too.

Who? "Mixtape Mechanic" Rapid Ric, a studio owner and producer, has been DJing in Texas for 16 years. His production credits include B.o.B., Chamillionaire and Scarface, while the likes of Bun B, Big Sean, Mac Miller and Kendrick Lamar have stopped by his studio, DMG Houston. He was also Chamillionaire's touring DJ for a spell.

Home Base: Ric lists both Houston and Austin as home, and says he "works everywhere else in Texas."

Why Do You Stay in Houston? "Houston is the port to many opportunities in [the] Gulf region," Ric says. "Most of my closest clients reside or work here...I do the same."

Good War Story: "After hours of not getting our credentials and security not caring who we were, Chamillionaire, OG Ron C and I had to sneak into a DJ Convention in Puerto Rico," he says. "It was well worth it..."

Best Show Ever: "2007, opening up for Slim Thug in Norway, right before Kanye West and The Cure," Ric says.

Current Project: "Intervention 2 with Trakksounds and [Southern rap blog]," which he describes as a "collaborative production on this nice Southern mixtape."
