7 Songs About Hobbits NOT By Leonard Nimoy

Led Zeppelin, "Ramble On"
Tolkien references and themes turn up all the time in Led Zeppelin songs, which is neat because they were into it when a lot of the English thought The Lord of the Rings was crap. It took hippies in America falling in love with Tolkien to turn him into the juggernaut he eventually became.

Robert Plant dropped the most Hobbit love into 1969's "Ramble On." It's hard to tell exactly what scenes he's referring to, though, because, and this cannot be stressed enough, Robert Plant is awesome but he has absolutely no idea how he's doing it. Stuff like Tolkien and Crowley goes in one ear, and comes out brilliant through his pen, but it is all accident, my friends. Pure, wonderful accident. See you at the Cineplex.

Why they chose Blind Guardian's "Into the Storm", I do not know. That album has to do with the Noldor (elves) and Morgoth in the Silmarillion, and not Hobbits. They DID release a song called "The Lord of the Rings" and their songs "The Bard Song (In the Forest)"/"The Bard Song (The Hobbit) also mentions Hobbits lol I ofcourse don't expect a endless list, but I think 3 other important artists that have songs that includes mention of Hobbits are the Folk/New Age groups "Gandalf" & "David Arkenstone" and the metal band Summoning. I mean, I could go on for days but those are worth a mention ;) PS. Can't seem to figure out how to link this comment with my FB. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for mentioning my song "Stealing Like A Hobbit" in your Hobbit song article! Any chance I can get you to change the YouTube video you posted to the real music video for "Stealing Like A Hobbit"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWHbX6kKu5s - Luke Ski

I considered them both, but I tried to keep it as directly "Hobbit" as possible.

Not directly "Hobbit"-related, but Rivendell by Rush is a personal favorite. Then of course there's the black metal band, Gorgoroth.

@bloodtears13 ""Into the Storm" sums up the same themes of covetousness that make up a large part of The Hobbit (Gollum's desire for the ring, Thorin's quest to reclaim his stolen treasure) by following Sauron's old master Morgoth and Ungoliant, the mother of all the giant spiders, as they assault Valinor and steal the three Silmarils. Death and destruction abound, and as the song says in foreshadowing, "We are following the will of the One.""But I'll look into the ones you mentioned. Thanks!
