Continental Club, December 27
Two Louisiana lifers, New Orleans brothers in arms Dash Rip Rock and Cowboy Mouth are still preaching the gospel of righteous, swamp-flavored rock and roll night after night some 20 years into their careers. Neither are exactly strangers to Houston -- in fact, Dash played the Continental's Coffee Porter party last month -- but they almost never share a stage here, which should make Thursday a special (and crowded) treat. Nick Gaitan & the Umbrella Man
Big Top Lounge, December 27
Easily one of the most Houston albums of 2012 is Nick Gaitan & the Umbrella Man's Bridges & Bayous, which was released all the way back in May. "We move from one side to the other as we grow up, we start moving around the city, we move around with our families, people move out of the house and move on," Gaitan told Rocks Off. "I was focusing on a city in motion, where bridges and bayous are part of our lives." See the whole article at this link. CHRIS GRAY
