10 Houston Shows to See Thanksgiving Eve & Thanksgiving
Could be tough, though. We all tend to expand on the third Thursday of November each year, don't we?
For fans, Houston bands have plenty on the proverbial plate Wednesday night, offering up tons of gigs for you to rave about over turkey and dressing, annoying your fundamentalist relatives.
Look at it this way -- if your ears are still ringing on Thursday afternoon from the Hell City Kings show, you won't hear but half of the insults your fam' is hurling at each other, or you. Just smile and nod.
Let's give thanks to these musicians (especially the touring acts) for booking shows around the holiday, when they could be sitting at home doing nothing. God bless your greedy/poor souls.
Now is your chance to show your out-of-town friends and relatives one of the coolest honky-tonk bars in Houston. And see the legendary Hollisters.
Get down and dirty with American Fangs, a Houston group that is going to come aboveground in a major way in 2013. They've been recording a monster of an album this past year.
Spend a night with the Heathens, but go easy on that Mucky Duck chow. Instead invade the Duck's beer list.
"Nah mom, I think that smell on my jean jacket is incense. Yeah, incense. It's not weed smoke, not at all. I don't do drugs."
The Hell City Kings release a new 7'' tonight at Rudz featuring the songs "Devil's Law" and "Surfin' On The A." The single is out on Little T and A Records, a new label run by HCK member Bill Fool. By now you all know how cool Fool is from his Rocks Off 100 piece. And yes, the name of the label is a Stones reference.
