Now that Taylor Swift's new album Red is out, you may have noticed the recent media blitz that has brought her to the cover of Rolling Stone and a prime-time TV appearance on ABC's All Access Nashville Friday.

So she might as well tour, right? The country-pop star, now one of the nation's biggest recording artists -- if not the biggest -- announced on Prime Time Nashville and online Friday that she will go on the road for "58 shows in 45 cities in 29 states and 3 provinces."

According to a statement on Swift's Web site Friday, the tour will visit nine stadiums, including Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Houston is slotted for May 16 at a venue TBD. Red-headed UK singer-songwriter heartthrob Ed Sheeran will open the tour.

Red, released this past Tuesday, is currently the No. 1 album on iTunes and has three songs in the overall Top 10. It is also No. 1 on the country chart, with five songs in the Top 10.

First tickets go on sale November 16 at taylorswift.com and abcnews.com. The tour is being promoted by The Messina Group, a partner of AEG Live.

Swift last visited Houston almost a year ago, last November 5 at Minute Maid Park. From Pete Vonder Haar's review:

We don't want to dwell too much on the atmosphere, but shows aimed at the younger crowd are hard to describe to someone who's never been. Hordes of children tearing pell-mell through the venue, harried parents struggling to keep up, and pubescent freak-outs every 50 feet can be a little disconcerting.

The good news was, they were still serving beer. The bad news? None of the actual bars were open, meaning the wait to get one of those overpriced frozen margaritas was about 20 minutes.
