Sir Paul McCartney, Rihanna Houston Bound
Rewind: Dear Paul McCartney: Please Come Play Houston
No mistaking that, we suppose.
Two pretty big concert announcements this Friday morning.
First, Rihanna, last seen missing most of her hair at Thursday night's VMAs, is bringing her just-announced Rihanna Diamonds World Tour to Toyota Center April 15, according to Live Nation. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 21 through Ticketmaster and livenation.com.
In something Rocks Off has literally been begging for, Sir Paul McCartney will finally put Minute Maid Park to good use when he plays the Astros' home field November 14, as a stop on his On the Run Tour. The announcement went up a few minutes ago on Sir Paul's Facebook page.
Although it's been a while, looks like Sir Paul does like playing here after all. From the announcement:
Paul's November 14 date at Minute Maid Park -- his first Houston show in nearly seven years -- is preceded by a similarly deep history, his first Houston performance being The Beatles' 1965 concert at Sam Houston Coliseum. Paul has since visited Houston in 1976 on the Wings Over America tour, in 1993 on the New World Tour, in 2002 on the Back in the US Tour, and most recently on The US Tour in 2005.
The On the Run tour began in July 2011 at Yankee Stadium and visited other major league ballparks like Chicago's Wrigley Field, Cincinnati's Great American Ballpark, and Detroit's Comerica Park. Dallas is not on this leg, and neither is any other North American city at the moment. In fact, it's not even a "leg" right now, just us. How about that?
