Like To Cry? Watch This New Glen Campbell Video

Glen Campbell's long slow goodbye has been going on now for a little more than a year, since he announced he was suffering from Alzheimer's. "A Better Place" is the second video from Glen Campbell's 2011 album Ghost On The Canvas, and it's a tearjerker.

It's the goodbye.

Featuring Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme as a bartender, the clip sees Mr. Campbell looking through a scrapbook of pictures of himself throughout his long country and pop career. These are things he may not even remember himself.

Damn, Bobbie Gentry was a hottie.

Campbell is shot on a stark black stage as pictures of him and his famous friends and collaborators pass by. Anyone who has seen him live the past year has seen what the disease he is dealing with can do, but even still, his fingers glide effortlessly over his guitar.

The Rocks Off team was lucky to have covered two of his farewell shows in the Houston area the past twelve months, one at the Stafford Centre and another at the Arena Theatre. Each were heartwarming, sad, and touching events. The shows also made me pay more attention to his catalog in a way that I probably wouldn't have otherwise.

The clips end with a written coda by Campbell, saying goodbye to everyone he has met since his career began in 1958. For families that have dealt with Alzheimer's, it should be especially poignant. Most victims of the disease don't get a chance to say goodbye to the world, it's more of a slow solitary decline.

You're never really going to be gone Mr. Campbell, as long we have your records.
