Happy Birthday GG Allin: 10 SFW Inspirational Quotes From The Poo-Poo Rocker

Note:
This is a rerun of a popular post from Mr. Allin's birthday last year. We'd be remiss in not sharing our some of the outlaw scumbag's best quotes on a day like this.

Today would have been shock-rock icon GG Allin's 56th birthday, making him a senior citizen. But hell, we doubt the man/force of nature would have made to the 21st century, unless he made a radical and annoying left-hand turn into normalcy.

The singer, born Jesus Christ Allin, died on June 28 1993 after a heroin overdose, not quite dying onstage the way he wanted, and was probably supposed to. We wouldn't mind dying while writing or seeing a concert ourselves. He left behind a band, The Murder Junkies, and a brother, Merle, who continue GG's stanky legacy to this day.

By far, Allin is one of our favorite artists, and it's not just because he was veritably evil incarnate onstage, or because people say we could be him for Halloween. We do own a life-size Allin mask, and we have three bobbleheads from our friends at the Aggronautix toy company, so we may be biased, just a tad, on the man.

The drug use and abuse of women abhors us, but he always said he was out to hurt everyone. If anything his lesson is to try try, and try, no matter what, to get across your point artistically. Some people paint, and some people paint with feces. Would we want Allin to spend the night at our house? Probably not. But that was his appeal. He wasn't cuddly.

He wasn't stupid, for what it's worth. He was calculating and unforgiving to everyone, including himself. Above everything, there did seem to be an element of theater, hinting that maybe this was all a great ruse, an art piece. He always denied it though.

We collected ten of the man's most inspirational and telling quotes from his short time on Earth. Or was Earth spending time on Allin? He was actually very frank and sincere when he wasn't screaming about rape, murder, and piss and shit.

By the way, was anyone at this Houston gig that Allin and Merle were promoting in this clip?

"Rock and roll has to be destroyed and rebuilt in my name if it's ever gonna accomplish anything."

"I don't wanna get old and stagnant and hang around."

"I believe you can make forces of good and evil work for you, to get what you want."

"I don't have any influences, any heroes, it's just me."

"Your soul should be as strong as possible when it leaves here for whatever comes next."

"I think everyone in this country should have to do a year in the hole."

@creglovett Looking at his discography he did indeed play Houston in 1991, the show probably lasted longer than most expected since it clocked in at 39 min. He played SA the day before and it lasted 5. Here is a clip from that show at the Axiom.

Yeah, I read that. But I meant was there a video, I guess. I've seen footage from an Austin show. Truly vile.
