Love Dominique: The Anti-Hate Dominique
Some weeks, Rocks Off arbitrarily appoints one lucky local performer or group "Artist of the Week," bestowing upon them all the fame and grandeur such a lofty title implies. Know a band or artist that isn't awful? E-mail their particulars email@example.com.
I suppose it's slightly trite to characterize an R&Ber as "sassy" or "saucy," but those seems to be the most appropriate designations here. LD walks around in ethereal, hummingbird-light production, her voice doing most of the heavy lifting, it often sparrowing about being desirable, being proud or being proud to be desirable.
We reached over to Dominque to ask questions about things. Interview ahead. Mentions of an assassin, the worst musicians she's never heard of and so on. Forward.
Rocks Off: First, tell everyone everything they need to know about Love Dominique in exactly six words.
Love Dominque: Singer, songwriter, boxing enthusiast, R&B chick.
RO: I heard a rumor that you were born as part of a set of twins, but that your sister was stolen and raised in some hellish cave somewhere in Asia, that she became this vicious assassin of humans and the human condition, and that was named Hate Dominique. Is there any truth to that?
LD: [laughs] Yes, this is true. The Love Nation was formed to fight her. We only spread love over here.
RO: How many other [Feelings] Dominiques are there?
LD: There is like Dominique, I really like Dominique, and I like Dominique so much that I download all her songs on iTunes.
