Adios to Mike Campion of Gene's Addiction, who is leaving after Friday's show to check out the glamorous Kiss cover scene in Vegas, where Gene's performed in a contest in front of Kiss themselves earlier this year. Good luck to Mike, but first he's got one more show with Gene's at our "Cocktails & Covers" series at House of Blues. No cover at this one.

Flex tonight at Boondocks' "Plex in the City," billed as "Houston's Premier Dirty South Dance Party," with your host Go Go Garcia spinning Dirty Dirty from 10-12 and all H-town after midnight.

Two Star Symphony re-releases their newly remastered CD Love and Other Demons, now featuring new artwork by the quartet's Margaret LeJeune and Jo Bird, tonight at Warehouse Live's Green Room with Ancient Cat Society.

Freshly minted (repeat) HPMA winners the Free Radicals keep right on celebrating with an in-store at Cactus Music at 1 p.m. Saturday. Congrats to Cactus too, on another win for Best Record Store; we guess you can say Cactus is the Free Rads of local record stores. Rocks Off also stands by our assertion that Free Rads' HPMA-winning new album The Freedom Fence is worth owning not only as a piquant and poigniant snapshot of Houston in the year A.D. 2012, but as a damn fine piece of music on its own. Then, likely 2013 HPMA nominees or winners New York City Queens play at 3 p.m.

MUHAMMADALI is throwing a "good old-fashioned punk rock BBQ" as a fundraiser and tour kickoff, featuring B L A C K I E, Lazer Cuntzz, Daikaiju, the Hangouts, and lots of art and zines, Saturday at the Donkey Paw Screen Co., 2010 Franklin unit B. The event page mentions that MHA hopes to have its new LP ready as well.

Nameless Sound's David Dove is heading off to Europe for three weeks of shows, but not before doing one of his chopped-and-screwed trombone explorations of bass at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts (MECA) headquarters at 1900 Kane in the Heights. He's also promising margaritas.
