Hate Axl Rose? Just Go See Slash Instead!

Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash is heading back to Houston and the House of Blues on September 9 with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, plus extra-special beautiful openers Foxy Shazam.

Mr. Saul Hudson was last in town opening for Ozzy Osbourne at Toyota Center in January 2011. That night we not only got to hear GN'R songs from Slash and Kennedy (who sings), but also Sabbath cuts sans the rest of those old dudes. Everyone sorta won.

Not to take anything away from the Axl Rose-led GNR that hit town last November (Rocks Off enjoyed it) but this Slash show presents burned and scorned GNR fans with the chance to see their favorite top-hatted axman with a quality, dedicated reasonable proxy of Axl.

Axl's the sideshow now: the Dick Tracy clothes, the angry ginger attitude, the kingly demands, the whole deal. At least with Kennedy singing songs from the GNR catalog -- well it's cheaper for one -- you also have Slash in the mix. Sorry Bumblefoot, you're still a great guitarist but....

If the GN'R debacle is like a divorce, consider this show like going to visit your cool bachelor dad on the weekends who lets you watch Skinemax all night and gives you his credit card to order pizza when he's at work.
