Rocks Off is pleased to tell our readers that this weekend we will be running coverage from the Electric Daisy Carnival, one of the largest electronic-music festivals in the world and the largest in the U.S., as it takes over the Las Vegas Motor Speedway over there in Sin City all weekend. Last year more than 240,000 people went to EDC in Vegas, making it like the Super Bowl of EDM, except possibly bigger.

Anything with guitars, including Coachella, would barely even be on the same planet. More than 100 artists will perform across eight venues scattered around the Speedway this weekend. Many are DJs and producers even those of us still thumbing through our "EDM for Dummies" have heard of: Steve Aoki (featuring the Blue Man Group), Tiesto, Josh Wink, Carl Cox, Kaskade, Richie Hawtin, Josh Wink, Armin Van Buuren, Knife Party and our Summer Fest friends Afrojack, Major Lazer and Pretty Lights.

Add dozens and dozens more. (Check out the schedule.) Luckily, Dennis Romero, resident EDM genius over at our sister paper LA Weekly, will be inside the Carnival and filing reports when the beats finally fall silent.

The Electric Daisy Carnival is a production of uber-promoters Insomniac and is in its 16th year. Last year it produced several satellite festivals across the country, including Dallas, but scaled back to just Vegas and the New York metro area (aka New Jersey) this year. That happened last month at MetLife Stadium, where the Giants and Jets play.

Expect insanity. Right here, this weekend.
