Our long national nightmare is over: ZZ Top is finally releasing new music next Tuesday, June 5. Their Texicali EP will include four tracks off their upcoming Rick Rubin-produced album, which as of right now still has no official title.

"I Gotsta Get Paid," "Chartreuse," "Over You" and "Consumption" constitute the EP, which will stream on Rolling Stone's site Monday and will hit digital outlets the next day. We already heard "Paid" on that amazing Jeremiah Weed clip a few weeks ago.

The demand for new ZZ music has been palpable, and not just around these parts. This may lead Rubin and the band to shove some more new music out the door, probably to shut us all the hell up. Sorry, guys.

This is all great news, since this now means that by the end of the year we will have had a new ZZ Top album just in time for the apocalypse, or something like that. This new EP and forthcoming LP will be on Rubin's American imprint.

A quick reminder: The group's previously announced gig at The Woodlands with 3 Doors Down and Gretchen Wilson was quietly canceled a few weeks back. (3 Doors Down is still playing Bayou Music Center June 23.)

As their long-suffering publicist put it, the band wanted to take a step back from coming back to their home turf so soon after the RodeoHouston gig, but he didn't rule out a massive Houston gig to coincide with the release of the full LP in the fall.

As always, keep your fingers crossed and your hands firmly clutching your ZZ keychain. Like I am.

I'm still weirded out by that "25 Lighters" cover. It's cool to see them rep H-Town, but local rap songs about selling crack are embarrassing to me.

So soon after their rodeo gig? Like you can see ZZ Top too much? We can't get enough of them!!
