Mango's gets a jump on Cinco de Mayo with its "Cuatro de Mayo" party presented by Rockin' Steady. Cover is only $2, or free with a Social Distortion ticket stub.

This could be fun: This month across the street, Numbers is letting one lucky winner create his or her own 15-minute Classic Numbers DJ set. They'll even help you mix if needed. Potential DJs must arrive by 10:30 p.m. for the 11 p.m. drawing. Pair that with pre-11 p.m. drink specials like 50-cent drafts, $1.50 wells, and it could get interesting.

One of Rocks Off's writers swears the hottest joint in town right now is the D Bar Lounge at Wheeler & Dowling in Third Ward. He generally knows what he's talking about, and he loves this place -- almost as much as he loves the nearby Spot Club. D Bar has been touting something called "Free Fridays" on Twitter, so it sounds like a good time to go check it out.

If you don't mind a little drive, you'll find an appetizing buffet of Gulf Coast sounds at the Tails & Tunes Fishing Tournament and Music Festival at the Galveston County Fairgrounds in Hitchcock. (We had to look it up too.) On the musical docket is Texas Music hunk Bleu Edmondson and Kathy Ross tonight, then Curtis Poullard and the Creole Zydeco Band, Tuesday's Rocks Off inteviewee Bri Bagwell, and hunky headliner Cory Morrow Saturday. Only $10 for both days, plus a crawfish boil and outdoor expo.

Houston's favorite vatos rudos, Los Skarnales, torch the Continental Club Saturday with Outernational and DJ Clandestino. The beloved Skarnales -- who will mark their 20th anniversary in just a couple more years -- threaten to throw a rod at a normal show, so imagine what they might do on Cinco de Mayo. Look out. See the Houston Press Cinco de Mayo Guide for lots more stuff to do Saturday.

That includes Discovery Green's third annual daylong spring electronic-music festival, Disco Green, headlined by Grammy-nominated house beat-dropper Kenny Dope with Mr. Bristle, DJ Drew, Noey Lopez, Luis D.A. and Brotha Jibril. Latin ensemble La Orquesta Salmerum warms up. Question: What might happen if Slow Flow Yoga earlier in the day runs long? Disco Green starts at noon, so you might find out. Free.

You've already read about Benjamin Wesley's in-store Saturday at Heights Vinyl. Stick around for local songstress Sara Van Buskirk's set in the same spot at 6 p.m.
