Nicki Minaj Reloading at Bayou Music Center July 28
No More Dirty Looks Spock models the "Nicki Minaj."
Nicki Minaj, the most famous person with pink hair since Phyllis Diller (or P!nk herself), is bringing her Pink Friday International tour to Bayou Music Center (formerly Verizon Wireless Theater) on July 28, according to an announcement Tuesday morning from 42 West publicity.
If you saw the Grammys in February, where Minaj performed her single "Roman Holiday" in a production number that was part West Side Story and part The Exorcist, you might be able to imagine what kind of production design Team Minaj might be cooking up for a solo tour.
Minaj will also take part in a meet-and-greet at each show, described as "infamous" but that sounds like every other press-the-flesh event we've ever heard of: "Fans will have the opportunity to get an exclusive VIP laminate and lithograph, access to be the first to enter the venue night of show and a meet-and-greet with Nicki herself," the release says. "During each meet-and-greet, Minaj will sign autographs and take photos with fans.

Minaj has been one of the most controversial figures in hip-hop and pop culture since debuting on several mixtapes between 2007 and 2009. Her debut album, Pink Friday, reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. One of the most popular posts in Rocks Off's history is Shea Serrano's point-counterpoint with himself, "Nicki Minaj: To Hate or Not To Hate?" when Pink Friday was released in November 2010.
Minaj's latest album, Roman Reloaded, debuted at No. 1 this past March, and she has become beloved among once-skeptical critics. "She's often straddling a line between hip-hop and pop that no other rapper is capable of, or would even dare," Jon Caramanica wrote in The New York Times the week Reloaded was released.
