Before you complain, Rocks Off would like to kindly remind that ZZ Top is the greatest group to come from Texas and the Houston area, and that Billy Gibbons knows where you and your mother sleep.
The Tops were just here a few weeks ago, for a gig at RodeoHouston, which saw them joined onstage by country-rocker Jamey Johnson. This will be the Top's first non-spinning-stage gig here in Houston since they opened for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers back in September 2010.
I'm excited to see the band in a non-rodeo setting or non-opening slot. In 2009, they opened for Aerosmith, also at the Pavilion, and to my recollection I have never seen a full-scale, full-length ZZ Top set. I have only seen smaller set lists, so to be able to see and hear them dig into rarities -- I hope -- will be a pleasure.
Plus there is the possibility of hearing new jams too, which is reason enough to snag a ticket.
You probably know 3 Doors Down from their songs about Superman and the U.S. Army, and Wilson is a hard-partying country gal who looks and sounds like Miley Cyrus in 20 years.
The concert announcement came from the ZZ Top Facebook page, and rest assured full ticketing details are coming to your eyes shortly from Live Nation.
For now, go celebrate three decades of their 1983 album Eliminator over here.
