Up the Irons, y'all: Iron Maiden is returning to Houston on August 18, at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. This will be the iconic metal group's first appearance here since their June 2010 date, also in the Woodlands.

This leg of the tour, Maiden will have Coheed & Cambria on hand as their supporting act; Alice Cooper is handling opening duties earlier in the tour. The Woodlands will be the final date of the tour.

That last show here in Houston was a fan-friendly event, with Maiden's set heavy on chestnuts for the die-hards. As we said at the time, "If you own the band's entire catalog on tape, vinyl and disc, and maybe had their ghoulish mascot Eddie airbrushed on your wedding cake, then you were in heaven for nearly two hours as the band fired off album tracks and obscure fan favorites."

That means it was a great show.

Check out Groovehouse's great slideshow from that evening here, and notice the generations of fans who were in the house that night. Maiden is truly turning into a metal band for the whole family.

Tickets for the show aren't yet on sale, but we are sure that Live Nation will be announce all the details very soon, including pricing and on-sale dates. Stay tuned, folks.
