Bill O'Reilly Has A Hard-On For Willie Nelson

Wilco, "Pot Kettle Black"

Despite his appearance on SNL's "What's Up With That?" skit this weekend, Bill O'Reilly has managed to squander what little credibility he has among liberals, moderates and (we're guessing) anyone under age 60 by calling Willie Nelson a "creep."

The conservative Fox News host was a guest on one of the network's other shows, Fox & Friends, last Thursday, and for some reason saw fit to go after the Red Headed Stranger, Nelson's weed-puffing buddy Snoop Dogg, and the late Whitney Houston for never recording an anti-drug PSA.

Rocks Off cannot remember any judge ever ordering any of the three to record such an announcement. Considering all three of them have or had been busted for weed, it certainly could have come up as part of the sentencing process.

Whatever they choose (or chose) to smoke or snort or shoot should remain their own business, right up until they're arrested (again). Didn't we already have the celebrity/role model debate about 20 years ago? Besides, studies show young people have been turning away from copying their idols' behavior years, at least as far as drugs are concerned.

But O'Reilly seems like he's had a hard-on for Nelson for a while. As Texas Monthly Online pointed out this morning, he also called Nelson a "pinhead" a few years ago for supporting some of Alex Jones' 9/11 theories.

O'Reilly seems to take special pleasure in going after rappers anyway. Never mind the more live-and-let-live among us, Rocks Off imagines at this point he could be starting to try even some conservatives' patience.

Unfortunately, he could not be reached for comment as to why he would not rather attack Santa Claus or a playpen full of puppies. Or Jesus, for whom Willie Nelson is often mistaken in Texas.
