Via Rolling Stone, the Saddle Creek princes Cursive have released, for your free listening pleasure, the first single titled "The Sun and Moon" from their forthcoming seventh album I am Gemini out February 21.

The concept album is described on the band's site as "the surreal and powerful musical tale of Cassius and Pollock, twin brothers separated at birth. One good and one evil, their unexpected reunion in a house that is not a home ignites a classic struggle for the soul, played out with a cast of supporting characters that includes a chorus of angels and devils, and twin sisters conjoined at the head. Moody and playfully sinister I Am Gemini is Cursive's musically heaviest in years."

The album was recorded over this past Summer and Fall in Omaha and then mixed at Red Room in Seattle with producer Matt Bayles of Mastodon and Minus the Bear fame. The way this record was written is a bit of a departure from the norm for Cursive as front man Tim Kasher penned the lyrics with the whole story in mind, in a linear fashion and in order of the track listing, creating what the band calls "thirteen singularly cohesive song chapters that blend effortlessly into one unique narrative."

"Cohesive" and "effortlessly blending" aren't really the first words that come to mind when I think of Cursive but I'm eager to hear more from I Am Gemini as I've been out of the Cursive-loop since 2003's The Ugly Organ.

The trio will kick off their 2012 15-stop mini tour with a show in Denver on February 12 and as of now, sadly, Houston isn't on their list of cities to visit, but we've been told to stay tuned as more dates will be added.

What do you think of this first track, "The Sun and Moon"? Are you keen to hear more or have you heard enough? Let us know in the comments section!
