30 Seconds With Wayne Static
Through a tenuous link across a magical force that some people call "the Internet" we connected with Wayne Static of Static X, now out promoting his awesome new solo album Pighammer, to see what we could learn of the man in 30 seconds.
Wayne Static: I have no idea. I don't make a habit of remembering the names of songs I hate. In fact, I try not to think about the billions of crappy songs that make me angry inside.
RO: What is the best lyric in the world?
WS: "Sense of thought, thought of touch, touch of you will tap my veins." Excerpt from the Static-X song, "You Am I."
RO: Someone throws a beer bottle at you onstage. What do you do?
WS: Duck and then keep on rocking!
WS: In real life I've already played every dream show I could imagine, but when I was nine years old (in 1975) I had serious delusions that I would replace Paul Stanley in KISS and no one would realize it!
RO: What would you buy with a million dollars?
WS: I don't know... a million dollars doesn't go very far these days.
RO: What would you buy with your last dollar?
WS: Some food for our cat, Bling.
RO: If you could canonize another musician who would it be and of what would they be the patron saint?
WS: I'm an Atheist and do not believe in saints or hero worship.
RO: What will be written on the plaque beneath the giant statue future generations erect in your honor?
WS: "Wayne Dick Static, The King of Evil Disco."
Wayne Static plays Friday January 27 at Scout Bar with the Agonist, Polkadot Cadaver, and Zone of Inhibition. Pighammer is now available.
