Miley Cyrus Has Company: Some Surprising Pot Smokers

​Miley Cyrus' 19th birthday party was taped and the video revealed her admission that she is a stoner. On her 18th birthday, Cyrus was filmed smoking salvia.

This upset fans, but it especially upset parents. No parent wants to see their child's Disney idol bragging about puffing the magic dragon. Celebrities and other public figures smoke weed, but the general public just doesn't want to know about it. Here are some of the more surprising and unexpected marijuana smokers.

Bill Clinton

In 1992, President Clinton admitted on television about the only occasion he broke the law. He confessed to "experimenting" with weed. The killer part of the president's confession was when he said, "I didn't inhale" because that what really matters.

Michael Phelps

Swimmer Michael Phelps took a bong rip in 2009 that cost him. A photo leaked of the winner of eight Olympic gold medals and he lost two endorsements including AT&T and Rosetta Stone. He did manage to hang onto the $1-million-plus deal he had with Mazda, however.


Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg admitted to smoking weed a few times on television as a co-host on her show The View. Goldberg has also admitted to being seriously baked while accepting the Oscar in 1991 for best supporting actress. During the controversy over Phelps' pot use, Goldberg came to his defense and the stood up for the green. Can you imagine Sister Mary Clarence smoking weed?

Montell Williams

Television talk show host and infomercial host extraordinaire Montell Williams loves weed. He advocates it so much that he opened a medical marijuana dispensary in Sacramento, California this year. Williams, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, revealed that marijuana is the best way to soothe his pain. According to Sacbee.com, Williams just wants to be left alone with his weed, "I can go get morphine pumped into my system and nobody's got a problem. But all of a sudden they're really worried if I smoked a joint."

Abraham Lincoln

Honest Abe kept it real in a letter he allegedly wrote in 1857 to the Hohner Harmonica Company in hopes of receiving some free shit. In the letter Lincoln allegedly writes, "Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp, and playing my Hohner harmonica."

In 2001, researchers claim to have found clay pipes with traces of cannabis and cocaine near Shakespeare's garden. Although it has not been proven that he smoked weed, the pipes hint that Shakespeare liked to party. Some have also suggested that he the "noted weed" in his Sonnet 76 was marijuana. "To new-found methods, and to compounds strange? 
Why write I still all one, ever the same,
And keep invention in a noted weed..."
