Girl in a Coma graced Houston with their presence for the second time in a week Saturday afternoon. The San Antonio trio officially introduced Exits & All the Rest to Houston fans Saturday at Cactus Music to kick off the Rocks Off in-store concert series. Their CD, released Tuesday on Joan Jett's Blackheart Record label, is their first experiment with analog-production.

The intimate venue set up had some fans there three hours early to stake their claim at the floor in front of the stage. It would be easy to imagination Nina Diaz personally serenading you from this distance.

Early birds also got first dibs on the vinyl edition that was sold out before the show even started.

For an hour and half, GIC played almost exclusively from the new record to the enthusiastic crowd. The few exceptions were a surprise cover of the Beatle's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and the closer, "Clumsy Sky." The group set expectations high for the rest of the bands in the concert series.

Folks were literally dancing in the aisles while they sampled St. Arnold's complimentary suds. There was a steady line for the free booze until GIC starting playing. Once Nina, Phanie and Jenn hit their first note, the line never amounted to more than three folks. I guess that was a good thing since I only saw one bathroom.

They skipped the customary encore but only so that they could hang out talking to fans and signing CDs for everyone after the show. They were still there with a long line of fans when Rocks Off left more than an hour after the show.
