Buxton, Allen Oldies Band at Cactus Music Record Store Black Friday Event

Most of us wince when we think about Black Friday. Sure, you can get that limited edition, glow in the dark Blu Ray Player/Coffee Maker that heals your broken dreams and cleans your toilet, but is it really worth the midnight (or 10 p.m. on Thursday depending on your location) wake up call? We think not.

Fortunately, independent record stores across the country will hold their first ever Record Store Black Friday event this Friday. No early openings, but plenty of exclusive and limited edition offerings only at independent stores. And, if you head over the Cactus Music -- ground zero for Record Store Black Friday in H-Town -- you can grab a tasty beverage and catch some live music.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., members of local indie roots outfit Buxton will be playing their favorite tunes in the Record Ranch. They will also have copies of their 7" vinyl release that comes out Friday. It features music from their upcoming full-length offering Nothing Here Seems Strange.

At 3 p.m., the Allen Oldies Band takes the stage in celebration of their 7" double "A" side limited edition record featuring "Talk Talk" and "Psychotic Reaction."

So, instead of punching some guy in the face over the last $100 flat screen or tripping a pregnant woman on her mad dash into the store in the hopes you might grab a shitty digital camera for 10 bucks, hit a record store, listen to some tunes and relax.
