30 Seconds With Chuck Ragan

Categories: Inquiring Minds

Chuck Ragan made waves in the punk scene as part of Hot Water Music, but now he's turned the fire into folk perfection that burns no less fiercely. We bro fisted briefly with Ragan and pestered him just long enough to find out what we could about him in 30 seconds.

Rocks Off: What is the worst song in the world?

Chuck Ragan: Any song that de-values or disrespects human life or the human spirit.

RO: What is the best lyric in the world?

CR: "Don't underestimate the underdogs, they can beat the world and come back for more." Leatherface, "Do The Right Thing."

RO: Someone throws a beer bottle at you on stage. What do you do?

CR: Catch it or dodge it with the old instincts of HR, and if needed, defuse the situation without breaking any guitars and have the slippery handed clown shown to the door.

RO: Without worrying about space, time, or the laws of physics, what would be the ultimate gig to play, and why?

CR: Month long festival of friends, fishing, music and gumbo on the gulf side of Florida off of Shell Mound on an island that I shall not name!

RO: What would you buy with a million dollars?

CR: Our, my parents, and my in laws' homes. Or however far I could stretch it across the family.

RO: What would buy with your last dollar?

CR: Depends where I was...Jug of water or hook and line.

RO: If you could canonize another musician, who would it be and of what would the be the patron saint?

CR: My paw paw Charlie Murray and his wife, my maw maw, Joyce Murray.

RO: What will be written on the plaque beneath the giant statue future generations will erect in your honor?

CR: "To Thine Self Be True and Don't Burn The Roux!"
