Rappers Onstage: Who's Dramatic Enough For Broadway?

Not Invited: Spiderman

This Week's Prompt: That Tupac play is apparently a real thing. So we asked a bunch of Houston rappers, and Matt Sonzala, which of their own they'd like to see a play written around.

Herney The Great: I'd say Pimp, but I'd prefer a full motion picture for Chad. So my answer is Scarface. A play about 'Face would be great. He's been around a lot. He's done real songs with Tupac. He was the president of Def Jam South for a while.

Bun B: Screw. Because of the sheer number of S.U.C. members they'd have to put a star studded cast together. Don Cheadle as Keke*, etc.

*Has there ever, in the history of time, been better casting than Don Cheadle as Lil Keke?

Mac: Fat Pat. He is a very instrumental part of Houston history.

Brad Gilmore: I would like to see a play about the Chamillionaire/Paul Wall story. It'd be interesting to see how the beef would be played out.

OG Ron C: I would have to say Destiny's Child because their story is amazing**.

**This one would definitely sell the most tickets, for certain.

Matt Sonzala: It should be Big Moe: Maaaan, The Musical.

#Thurogod: Not necessarily a rapper, but I'd like to see a play about the life of J. Prince.

Medicine Girl: Chad Butler, a.k.a. Pimp C, because I sold dope all through high school to UGK and it would be a good heritage lesson for my kids.

Kyle Hubbard: Scarface. Why? Because in my eyes, he is the most fascinating rapper from Houston.

Note: Really surprised that no one said S.P.M. It seems like that story has all of the necessary dramatic moments to make a good stage play. It would have some especially uncomfortable parts, and people love tension just as much as they love someone to hate.
