Jay-Z & Kanye's Throne Tour Stop Delayed To December 5
Toyota Center's Web site is now listing the Houston date of rap titans Jay-Z and Kanye West's joint tour to promote their forthcoming album Watch the Throne as Monday, December 5, rather than the previously announced Wednesday, October 26.
Promoter Live Nation confirmed the change, but has not sent out an official statement. Apparently a number of dates on the tour, which was scheduled to begin Sept. 22 outside Detroit, have been shuffled. The Washington Post reported Monday that the Throne date at D.C.'s Verizon Centre had been pushed back from Sept. 29 to November.
The superstars are already denying rumors (sort of) that they don't see eye to eye. The New York Post reported (via Digital Spy) that Jay and Ye are already "barely speaking to each other" over production costs of the tour - that Kanye wants a blockbuster and Jay-Z something closer to MTV Unplugged.
Hova told New York's Hot 97 FM otherwise.
"I kinda want to spend a gazillion dollars. They got it backwards, but it's all good," he said. "I know that we're doing something right now. When I woke up to all that, I was like, 'Oh yeah, we must be really hot right now.'"
Rocks Off's sister blog in New York, Village Voice's Sound of the City, has a report from Monday night's Watch the Throne listening party, where about 1,000 people including Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and Jada Pinkett Smith were escorted into the Hayden Planetarium in the American Museum of Natural History, where a Twitter blackout was enforced.
"It was like a Microsoft screensaver on Five Hour Energy," wrote the Voice's Jeff Rosenthal, who had generally positive things to say about the album. Such as, "It's very good, borderline great."
Tickets for the Houston show will still go on sale at 10 a.m. this coming Monday, August 8.
