Doeman Sounds Off On Hip-Hop Headlines

The hip-hop world is a less than sensible place - lots of times, you're even required to clarify when bad means bad and when bad means good - so once a week we're going to get with a rapper and ask them to explain things. Something you always wanted to ask a rapper? Email sheaserrano@gmail.com.

This is Doeman. He's part of the new hip-hop duo Doeman and Tony Soloman, as it were. We actually first met Doeman (above right) a couple of years back, when he was still going by his government name and seemed concerned with little more than convincing girls that his perfectly kept hair was reason enough for them to make out with thim.

We ran into him at a concert several weeks ago, where he explained that he was now a promising rapper and boxer. He sent us some music. It did not suck, and here we are.

This Week's Rapper: Doeman

This Week's Subject(s): Eminem, Nelly, DJ Drama, J. Cole Tyler and more.

Ask A Rapper: Some topical questions I'd like to get your opinion on:

First, Eminem just won six more Billboard Music Awards. His last record sold a billion copies. He is widely respected and feared. Is it time to start seriously considering him to be the greatest rapper in the history of the world?

Doeman: First off, I would say Eminem is one of the most respected and greatly talented artists, a man I look up to myself, a different race and style. I would seriously consider him as the greatest, but in today's hip-hop world there is so much talent and competition. He definitely stands out though.

AAR: Second, DJ Drama listed his top five Southern rappers as Ross, Jeezy, Wayne, T.I. and 2 Chainz. How horrible is this list?

D: Secondly, I would say DJ Drama's list aint one of the greatest five. Everyone has there own opinion, but I would say he overlooked so many great artists. He obviously hasn't heard Killa Kyleon, B.o.B. or Ludacris. He should've done just a little more research.

AAR: Thirdly, J. Cole just released a song called "Return of Simba." Will the title - clearly a PR ploy - make it more or less likely that you listen to it?

D: Thirdly, in my opinion J.Cole is one of the best MCs in today's game, so anything he drops is fire and the title only makes so much of a difference.
