RIP Macho Man: Randy Savage, Illest Rapping Wrestler Ever
Rocks Off was heartbroken to hear that former WWF/WWE and WCW wrestling champion Randy "Macho Man" Savage died this morning after losing control of his car and striking a tree near his home in Tampa, Florida.

According to our sister paper Broward Palm Beach New Times, Savage suffered a heart attack while driving around 9:30 a.m. Eastern time; his wife, Lynn, was also in the car but received minor injuries. Police say both were wearing their seat belts, and do not believe alcohol was a factor.
This one hurts. Rocks Off was once a huge wrestling fan, and the Macho Man was one of the main reasons why. Whether "face" or "heel," no one could cut a promo like Savage, who always seemed like he was about to swallow the microphone whole. Once inside the squared circle, his matches with George "The Animal" Steele, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and Hulk Hogan were some of the best we've ever seen.
When he wasn't landing the big elbow or chaperoning Miss Elizabeth, Savage was a pretty versatile dude. The camera loved him, and so did Slim Jim after he began endorsing the dried meat product in the 1990s. But what he really loved to do was... rap.
Actually Macho Man was more of a hard-rock guy, but according to Wikipedia, "he chose rap due to his lack of singing ability." And so during one of his periodic retirements from the ring, Savage cut the 2003 album Be a Man. As one astute Amazon reviewer said, "OOOOOOOHHH YEEEAAAHHHHH!!! I just crapped on myself."
Well put. To paraphrase one of Macho Man's collaborators, we still don't think people are ready for this. Rocks Off is going to miss you, Randy. Ooh yeah.
