Crazy In Alabama: Hangout Festival Preview

​This weekend this member of Rocks Off is heading to Gulf Shores, Alabama, for the Hangout Festival on the beach. Well, hopefully, considering the drive may take us through some rough waters due to the flooding in the deep South. Let us pray...

Anyhow, this is the second year for Hangout, and the lineup this time around was too good to pass up. Considering that we really wanted to see Paul Simon at Austin City Limits, not all is lost as we will be seeing the man on Sunday night. And the Flaming Lips' set, Saturday night before the Foo Fighters hit the main stage, will now be the third time we have seen the Okies in a year, thanks to last year's Summer Fest and ACL, respectively.

This festival is literally on the beachfront, so it's possibly for us to be soaking our feet, or at least picking sand out of our ears, while we hear My Morning Jacket. Dare say, we could even watch Motorhead from the surf. Doesn't that sound unnatural and wrong? Also, it's a beach, so keep your fingers crossed for a bikini slideshow once our potential black eyes heal up.

The lineup does skew a little jammy and fratty, with the likes of Slightly Stoopid, Widespread Panic, and Matisyahu in the mix, but we have a few core bands we are venturing east to see.
