Behind These Hazel Eyes: A big Microsoft check.
Rebecca Black turned out to be a hoax, but the Galleria might still be getting a visit from a pop star soon.

According to Chronicle technology columnist and blogger Dwight Silverman's blog this afternoon, the former American Idol winner will perform at the Galleria's brand-new Microsoft store on June 25, two days after it is scheduled to open.

At the moment, Rocks Off is taking anything the Chronicle says with a grain of salt, until they fess up that Hank Williams is not a Texan. But the Microsoft store has created a Facebook page for the event, so that helps us believe it a little more.

Plus, Clarkson did the very same thing at the Microsoft store's opening at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., last year. You have to show up to the opening to get passes for her in-store; the first handful of people in line get VIP stuff; yada yada yada. It's all on the Facebook page.

Otherwise, the Fort Worth native has been keeping a pretty low profile lately. Her last album, 2009's All I Ever Wanted, was a commercial rebound from 2007's My December thanks to the No. 1 hit "My Life Would Suck Without You." Clarkson has reportedly finished the follow-up - calling it influenced by Tina Turner and Radiohead - but is said to be waiting for the executive musical chairs at her label, Sony, to die down before releasing the album.

Clarkson's in-store will be her first performance in Houston since late 2007 at Verizon Wireless Theater. Her All I Ever Wanted tour skipped us in favor of markets like Beaumont and Corpus Christi. However, she did appear alongside Jason Aldean via video screen at the country star's rodeo-closing performance at Reliant Stadium in March.
