Rocks Off sat down with Kina Grannis to see what we could learn about the rising singer-songwriter sensation in 30 seconds.

Kina Grannis: The one that I write while I'm dreaming and slips out of existence as soon as I wake up. That's just cruel.

RO: What is the best lyric in the world?

KG: I must have at least 50 favorite lyrics, and I certainly haven't heard all the songs in the world, but here's one of them from "Wait It Out" by Imogen Heap:

"For all we could and should be being in the one life that we've got"

RO: Someone throws a beer bottle at you. What do you do?

KG: Depends on a lot of things. Does it hit me? Am I unconscious? Is said person creepy looking? Realistically, I would probably just walk away and let my anger fester inside of me until I wrote a song about it.

RO: Without worrying about space, time, or the laws of physics, what would be the ultimate gig to play?

KG: Well now I'm tempted to say floating in outer space, or in an oxygen bubble on the moon, just because those would be cool places to be. But in this world, maybe in a forest somewhere. A forest with acoustics like a stairwell.

RO: What would you buy with a million dollars?

KG: I'm not one to spend the money I make until I need to, so it would most likely go into the bank until I thought of something great to do with it.

RO: What would you buy with your last dollar?

KG: Assorted candy... perhaps.

RO: If you could canonize another musician, who would it be and of what would they be the patron saint?

KG: Jonsi, and he would be the patron saint of music-too-beautiful-to-be-human-made.
