So Kenny Chesney Is Playing Discovery Green After All
Looks like CultureMap - and their "anonymous" sources - had it right. Way to go, guys.
Kenny Chesney models what will now be known as "The CultureMap Smirk."
After the Houston digital daily broke the story (to Rocks Off's extreme skepticism), The NCAA, Turner Sports and CBS announced later Thursday that Renee Zellweger's ex will close out the relentlessly branded Big Dance weekend concert series at Discovery Green Sunday, April 3. Chesney will headline the Capitol One JamFest portion of the Big Dance at a time TBD.
Meh. A culpa, we guess.
Kings of Leon have already been announced as the featured act for the Coke Zero Countdown on Saturday, April 2. No acts have been announced for the AT&T Block Party Friday, April 1.
The NCAA's announcement was much too mired in corporate-speak to confirm or deny CultureMap's "sleuthing" speculation that a portion of Chesney's performance will be simulcast on the Academy of Country Music awards show, scheduled to air on CBS April 3. This is what we all have to look forward to:
"The Big Dance Concert Series offers NCAA Corporate Champions the opportunity to engage with Final Four fans on-site, one of the myriad activation platforms available as part of the NCAA Corporate Marketing Program," said Will Funk, senior vice president of NCAA Partnerships and Branded Programming within Turner Sports Ad Sales.
Wow. Rocks Off can't wait for this. Can somebody explain to us what an "activation platform" is?
