This weekend Houston gets invaded by college basketball like never before as the Final Four takes over Reliant Stadium and Discovery Green for a slew of concerts and parties for the folks coming into town for the games and us locals alike.

Starting on Friday afternoon, Discovery Green will become ground zero for the Big Dance as the concerts ramp up over by the George R. Brown Convention Center. In addition to the previously announced Kings of Leon and Kenny Chesney sets on Saturday and Sunday respectively, the organizers have lined up quite the bill for the public to gander at. Plus, it's all free and open to the public, space permitting we presume.

FRIDAY

A big deal for the local vatos rudos, opening for The Hold Steady and the guys from Sublime that aren't Brad Nowell. Hopefully and the crew won't lay everyone to waste during their set so we will have energy to dance to "The Swish."

4:45-5:30 p.m.: Los Skarnales

7-8:15 p.m.: The Hold Steady

9-10:15 p.m.: Sublime With Rome

SATURDAY

It's an all-day affair on Saturday, so be sure to hydrate early and often. The Panic! At The Disco guys seem out of place with Austin's Vallejo and Robert Randolph's soul revue, but Kings of Leon fans will be storming the gates to see some Followills. Guys, remember to check some ID.

11:30 a.m.-noon: Vallejo

12:30-1 p.m.: Robert Randolph & The Family Band

1:30-2:15 p.m.: Panic! at the Disco

3-4 p.m.: Kings of Leon

SUNDAY

Sunday afternoon brings free and easy Texas Country, a Kid Rock acolyte, and the most relaxed man in music next to Jimmy Buffett, the be-hatted Kenny Chesney, to the Green. A quick note: that Chesney/Dave Matthews song "I'm Alive" is kinda cool. Just saying. We'll go burn our music-journo card out back in the parking lot now.

4-5 p.m.: Roger Creager

5:30-6:30 p.m.: Uncle Kracker

7-8 p.m.: Pat Green

8:45-10 p.m.: Kenny Chesney

Be sure to check the Discovery Green Web site for further details, including site maps and parking.

Incredibly short sets, are these times right? 30 minutes for Robert Randolph, pleez...

This all has to be a joke.
