Wu-Tang, Fishbone, Trae Top Village Voice/Frank 151 SXSW Party
We finally have the full lineup for the 2011 Village Voice Media/Frank 151 SXSW party, and it's a doozy. Heading up the bill are Staten Island Shao-Lin spitters the Wu Tang clan, still coasting on their late 2010 reunion that packed Numbers, and L.A. funk-rock beasts Fishbone.![]()
Marco Torres Method Man returns to Texas to smoke our SXSW party this year.
Houston's own Trae tha Truth will perform in support, as will rising Alabama rapper Yelawolf, Brooklyn indie-rap duo Rocky Business, "drunk crunk" purveyor Trouble Andrew, L.A. MC Lyte goddaughter Marz Lovejoy, and a bumpin' DJ set from Dallas diva Erykah Badu.
A little earlier in the day, we've also got some fierce female-fronted indie-rock with Wild Flag - the brand-new supergroup featuring former members of Sleater-Kinney, Helium, Quasi, and Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - and ex-Houstonians Ume.
The party is scheduled for 5 p.m. until last call Thursday, March 17, at the Austin Music Hall. Unlike in years past, it's not free to the public (SXSW badge and wristband-holders excepted) but it's a big ol' room and tickets will be available on the cheap.![]()
