MCM: More Local Music News Than Ice On The Roads

Rocks Off readers, if the cold weather has bogged down your day, we've got just the trick - a slew of local music news hot off the presses. Our soundtrack this week is the folky Sarah Neidermeyer and the Devil, the new album from Horse. It's available now, so give it a listen and maybe even put it on that hard drive, if you're so inclined.

Two Star Symphony is trying to raise $7,000 to record their score to the Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre's production of Titus Andronicus. Help them out here.

For those who are brave enough - and, hopefully, smart enough to know how to drive in these conditions - there are still shows out there. Willie Nelson's gig at Verizon might be postponed until April 28, but here's where we'd head to grab a whiskey and warm our bones with some music.

• We got word that Aurora Picture Show's Soul Nite is canceled tonight due to the weather, but it's still on for Saturday. Don't leave those dancing shoes at home.
• French composer Yann Tiersen drops by Fitzgerald's tonight, as well as a Cactus Music in-store at 6:30 p.m.. He's best known for his work on the Amélie soundtrack.
• Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights visit Walter's tonight, with Truth & Salvage Co. also on the bill.
• Tomorrow brings the screening of When We Ruled H-Town at Fitzgerald's. The documentary sheds light on Houston's music scene in the 1990s, and the bill features a slew of old acts reuniting for the show, including Tread, Spunk, Manhole, Monster Soup, Dinosaur Salad, Taste of Garlic, and Hoss.
• A crew of punks is set to turn Mango's into a sweatbox tomorrow, with Darwin's Finches, The Busy Kids, Funboys, Somosuno and Clockpole all on the bill. Expect a plethora of balloons and piñatas as well, if our intel is right.

Agro-Wax Records informs us to expect a Crimewave 12" in the near future.

This comes as little surprise to Rocks Off, considering that Craig Kinsey recently signed with the label, but the Kinsey-fronted Sideshow Tramps have also signed with ZenHill Records.

One of our favorite things about SXSW is the Flatstock poster exhibition, so we were pretty excited when we caught word that Houston's own Shelby Hohl will have a booth this year.
