Five Signs A Rapper May Be In Jail
When Scarface went vacationing in the iron city last October, no one seemed to notice. Everyone was stunned to later learn that Face had been in jail for three months. It got us thinking, what are some tell-tale signs that a rapper may be in the clink?
5. Static Twitter Page
If a prominent rapper jumps on a promotional vehicle like Twitter and then jumps off without explanation, there's major cause for concern. The only way this makes sense is if he's in Hawaii cutting tracks with Kanye West, in which case he'd issue a statement deriding Twitter as a complete waste of time.
Otherwise, you have reason to suspect that your guy may be in the big house and far removed from the Innanets. Think of all the groupie love he'd be missing from followers who laud the profundity of every tweet. In Face's case, his page hasn't sighed since September 2010.
4. Not Available to Weigh in on Rap Beefs
Big-time red flag. No self-respecting hip-hop journo concludes an interview without asking the interviewee to comment on a rap beef or two. Why? Because that sort of thing makes for popular stories. Duh. So, if you go as long as three months without stumbling on any controversial comments from your favorite rapper, it's a red flag that he or she may be in serious trouble.
3. Offers Executive Producer Credit to the Highest Bidder
Word on the street is that Scarface offered an executive-producer credit to anyone willing to pick up his bail. This was never confirmed, but we're able to confirm that Scarface is a rap icon who is not going to slap his name on just any album in exchange for a cheeseburger. So, this one was a tell-tale sign that something was amiss in the Brad Jordan camp.
