​Welcome to another fabulous edition of Magnolia City Mixtape. Rocks Off doesn't want you to miss even a smidgen of news from Houston's music scene, so we mine the Internet, sifting through Twitter feeds and Facebook profiles and harvesting every piece we can find. So without further adieu, here's what we discovered.

For our soundtrack this week, Mirm brings us a live set from a recent appearance at Avant Garden on December 23. Listen in, or grab it for yourself.

Or perhaps you still need a little Christmas in your life? Well maybe this video of The Last Place You Look performing their take on "Do You Hear What I Hear" will suffice.

Chingo Bling gifted everyone with a Christmas album, as well.

Or, perhaps you need something slightly less Christmassy, but still involving sleigh bells and Santa hats. For you, we present Organ Failure's cover of "Ring My Bell."

Whilst digging through our virtual wonderland, we happened across mlsnp's photos from the much-beloved Texas Tapes N' Records. This includes several shots of folks signing at in-store appearances, such as Twisted Sister and Ratt.

When We Ruled H-Town, a documentary about Houston's music scene in the '90s, is nearing completion. In fact, the folks putting it together are searching for a little monetary help with the project.

​For those of you wondering where to be on New Year's Eve, allow us to offer up a couple of choices:

• Pitchfork approved Groundhall's show, which features a lineup topped by Warpaint, Girl In A Coma, and Ume. Also on the bill are The Ton Tons, and Fat Tony is hosting the entire shindig.
• And of course, there's also Free Press Houston's "New Years Eve Cataclysm" at Fitzgerald's featuring some of Houston's finest talent. Scheduled to appear are Wild Moccasins, Weird Party, Limb, Golden Axe, B L A C K I E, Hamamatsu Tom, and Hex Dispensers, among others.

Kelly Minnis of The Eagle in Bryan-College Station has some nice praise for several of Houston's punk bands, declaring our talent "best in the state."

Omotai has joined the ranks of Facebook, and a visit to their page will reveal this video of the band recording the song "Life In The Hive" at Dead City Sound.

Saviour Group has turned into a full-fledged affair, and will likely be recording soon. The project now includes Jake Harris (Featherface, 10th Gräde Cütie), and Andrew Vivero.
