If Your Life Were A Movie, Which Song Would Be The Trailer?

Soundtrack-to-your-life dec27.jpg
It started as a whim on Twitter, asking friends what songs would soundtrack the trailer of the movie of their life. Would their life's tale be a rollicking drug-fueled, love-filled adventure backed by the Rolling Stones' "Jumping Jack Flash", or would it be a morose and somber drifting story with Elliott Smith strumming "Needle In The Hay" in the background?

For some reason, every time we are in a movie theater we imagine what our lives would look like as a two or three-minute greatest-hits reel on the big screen. We suppose a lifetime of MTV and YouTube has made us reduce our lives to quick snippets meant to entice, enthrall, and engage.

It's a tad morbid, seeing that only a few lucky people can be alive to see their life story on screen. We wonder what it was like for the Runaways and Mark Zuckerberg this year. At least one had music ready-made for their life; the other had a Trent Reznor-produced ambient soundtrack.

Iggy Pop, "The Passenger"

What's this writer's pick? Iggy Pop's "The Passenger," but of course. At this point it's kind of cheesy, seeing that it has been on a million other film trailers, commercials and countless bastardized covers. The best one we have heard was Siouxsie & the Banshees' version, followed by Bauhaus' take on the Lust For Life album track floating around on YouTube. At least we didn't pick "Lust For Life", right?

Ennio Morricone, "The Ecstasy Of Gold"

A lofty, lofty pick from a friend whose life actually warrants it. Just switch gold for taco trucks and that's him. Damn, we need to watch The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly again soon.

No Doubt, "Just A Girl"

Being a girl sucks, we assume. Especially if you are Gwen Stefani. Attractive, small blondes with dynamic voices don't get a break.

Matt & Kim, "Daylight"

This is a super-happy jam, and you have to have a pretty cute life to pull this one off.
