Until Rocks Off had a small child... strike that. Until Rocks Off watched the Wife With One F have a small child while we hyperventilated in a hospital room, we had a very firm holiday tradition of lying to our families about other engagements and then eating dinner at Katz's, away from the hustle and/or bustle. It's not that we didn't have the holiday spirit; it's just that we believe too much togetherness and holly-jolly can give you cancer.

So, if you've nogged as much egg as can be nogged after biting a hole in your tongue while your uncle expounds his political theories over the Turducken, then we suggest you throw on a coat and head down to Scout Bar to catch ERASEtheVIRUS' annual Christmas show.

Christmas with an angry, electronic foursome that celebrates debauchery and stompy boots? Well yes, that's kind of the point. To be honest, most of us put aside a lot of our personal personalities and put on much less felony-ridden ones for the family at Christmas.

We talk about our favorite TV shows instead of the possibility the prostitute last night was a dude. We make sure only the tattoos without boobs and curse words show. We, sigh, behave.

That's tiring. So ERASEtheVIRUS kindly offers an alternative after the children fall asleep exhausted from playing with their haul.

Rocks Off: How long have you guys been doing the Christmas show, and what made you want to start it up in the first place?

Benjy Bordelon (Synths, Programming, Vocals): ERASEtheVIRUS has done a couple of these shows so far. We are normally one of the only bands in the area that are ever really willing to play shows on holidays such as Christmas, Halloween, etc. because we know that it will pull in a nice size crowd and we tend to rock the socks off of everyone.

Christmas nights are always boring after you are finished dealing with family and friends. After exchanging presents, eating and what-not, most people are ready for a good night out. We're there to make that experience even better.

RO: What can we expect at this Christmas show?

BB: You should expect to hear some new music from our upcoming third album. You should also see ERASEtheVIRUS in their usual holiday spirit throwing themselves at the fans and being who we normally are during performances.

RO: What does Christmas mean to ERASEtheVIRUS?

BB: Well, I'm sure the individual members of this band have their own definitions of what Christmas means to them. I for one love the holiday. Giving and receiving presents, seeing my kids and going out is always something to look forward to.

As a whole, even though ERASEtheVIRUS has this whole "we don't care about anything" persona, I feel that we all enjoy the season. I guess it depends on the year and what has built up to the holidays.

RO: What's the party usually like?

BB: Crowded, chaotic and fun! We always pull in the crowd on these holiday shows. It always expected.

ERASEtheVIRUS plays Christmas night at Scout Bar, 18307 Egret Bay Blvd, Clear Lake.
