This is about the worst thing you can report, let alone have happen to someone in your family, but Weird Party guitarist Bryan Agan's family is looking for donations and any information surrounding the suspected homicide of his 18-year-old cousin last week.

Agan says from what he has been able to gather, his cousin, Patrick Carver, was at his home near the Gulf Freeway and Fuqua when he was attacked by an unknown number of assailants either last Monday or Tuesday. Police said there was no signs of forced entry, leading Agan to believe Carver was attacked, most likely with one or more blunt instruments, after he opened the door. Carver's father found his body last Wednesday morning.

"It was pretty brutal," says Agan, who cleaned out Carver's house over the weekend.

Police either have no leads or are not saying anything, even to the family, Agan adds: "This leads me to believe they know something, they just don't want to jeopardize anyone getting tipped off."

To assist Carver's family with funeral expenses, Weird Party will be taking donations at the garage-rockers' show this Friday at Rudyard's with the Cynics and the Ugly Beats, and is talking about holding a benefit for the family. Agan has also set up a PayPal account through his email, agan.bryan@gmail.com.

"I've never been a fan of [benefits], but I guess until it happens to your family you never really understand," he says.

Anyone with information connected to Carver's death should call HPD homicide at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

"I wouldn't wish this on anyone," Agan says. "I never thought this would happen to my family, especially to my youngest cousin."
