Blues Benefit Honors Late Drummer "Butch" Dempsey

Longtime Houston blues scenester Mark May is hosting a benefit this afternoon at the Continental Club for his longtime drummer Clyde "Butch" Dempsey, who passed away this past July.

Joining May on the bill will be local favorites Luther and the Healers as well as Cold Feet, Gonadz and the usual "special guests."

Houston Blues Society member Annelia Williams will be doing something called "The Bucket of Love" at the event. She would not reveal the details of what exactly the bucket of love is, which should bring some mystery to the proceedings.

Proceeds will go to an education fund for Dempsey's two children.

3-10 p.m., Continental Club, 3700 Main, j713-529-9899 or www.continentalclub.com/Houston.html.
