Indie-Rock Band + Kitchen Knife + Houston Airport = Jail

In "Me & Paul," from 1971's Yesterday's Wine, Willie Nelson sings, "Almost busted in Laredo, for reasons that I'd rather not disclose/ But if you're staying in a motel there and leave, just don't leave nothin' in your clothes."

If Austin-based YellowFever covered "Me & Paul" the way they did Culture Club's "Karma Chamelon" on the indie-pop duo's Bermuda Triangle LP (as "Multi-Kulti"), they might add this verse: "We were busted down in Houston, for reasons that the Web has now disclosed/ If you're going to the airport there to leave, just don't stash a knife in with your clothes."

The Austin outpost of The Onion's AV Club reported this morning that shortly after playing Mango's earlier this month, YellowFever was set to depart for a festival at New York City's South Street Seaport. Instead, their next booking was into the Harris County Jail thanks to a kitchen knife singer Jennifer Moore forgot to take out of her backpack.

Moore, who works in food service in the capital city and carries the necessary utensils to prepare her own meals on the road, did have some nice things to say about her accommodations, though.

"After enjoying the fine facilities at the Harris County Jail, bologna sandwiches, cute orange outfits, new friends, and very public restrooms, we are pleased to announce that we will be continuing our tour," she told Austinist.

YellowFever, who released a self-titled full-length earlier this year on the Vivian Girls' WildWorld label, return from said tour to play Emo's in Austin July 31. The duo's MySpace page lists further dates through mid-August; for some reason, Houston is not on them.
