Brand-new ACL 2010 adds The Black Lips
The Austin City Limits Music Festival released the schedule grid for this year's gathering in Zilker Park Oct. 7-9. The festival also added several bands, including Atlanta garage-punks (and recovering exhibitionists) the Black Lips; pop-punk agitators Ted Leo & the Pharmacists; alt-country swooners Grace Potter & the Nocturnals; Austin dream-twang group Shearwater; and shoegazey alt-rockers Silversun Pickups, whom Rocks Off could have sworn were there when the lineup was released back in May, but in any case will be at Warehouse Live next Tuesday for a preview.

Single-day tickets and three-day passes are completely sold out. A limited number of VIP tickets and ACL Travel Packages, which include either three-day VIP or general-admission passes and three nights at an Austin hotel. See www.aclfestival.com for further information.

After the jump, Rocks Off breaks down the schedule day by day.

Sub Pop Records
Beach House
Friday: Fairly even split between hippies and indie kids, with Blues Traveler pitted against the Mountain Goats (2 p.m.), Spoon against Slightly Stoopid (6 p.m.) and The Strokes against Phish (8 p.m.).

Tough Calls: Miike Snow or Girls (3 p.m.); Black Keys or Broken Bells (4 p.m.); Beach House or The Sword (5 p.m.). The 7 p.m. hour is a real mess, with Sonic Youth, Ryan Bingham & the Dead Horses, Robert Randolph & the Family Band and Vampire Weekend all onstage at that time.

Sleeper Pick: Girls Rock Camp-seasoned twangers Those Darlins (1:20 p.m., Austin Ventures Stage)

Saturday: Scruffy and/or anthemic alt-rock rules the day, with plenty of beats and beards on the side courtesy of Deadmau5, Ozomatli, a monster two-hour set from Monsters of Folk and M.I.A. closing things out against Muse.

Tough Calls: Lucero or the Gaslight Anthem (2:30 p.m.); Local Natives or Silversun Pickups (4:30 p.m.); Gogol Bordello or LCD Soundsystem (6:30 p.m.)

Sleeper Pick: Bay City's own sanctified gospel shouters the Jones Family Singers (1 p.m., Clear Stage)

Sunday: Indie-folk from Devendra Banhart and Midlake; Gulf Coast roots ringers Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and Robert Earl Keen; and moody widescreen rock from Band of Horses and the Flaming Lips. And then there's the Eagles.

Tough Calls: Shearwater or Warpaint (11:45 a.m.); White Rabbits or Ted Leo & the Pharmacists (12:30 p.m.); Devendra Banhart & the Grogs or Portugal, The Man (2 p.m.); Flaming Lips or Band of Horses (6 p.m.); Richard Thompson or the National (7 p.m.)

Sleeper Pick: Soul-powered Austin R&B revivalists T-Bird & the Breaks (6:40 p.m., BMI Stage)
