Mucky Duck Marks 20th Anniversary Tonight

McGonigel's Mucky Duck, called by USA Today one of the top listening rooms in America, celebrates its 20th anniversary this evening.

Originally leased but now owned by proprietors Theresa and Rusty Andrews, the operation has grown from a shoestring-budgeted enterprise to become one of Houston's most economically sound musical enterprises, and one of the coveted venues for touring folk, alt-country, and eclectic music acts. The couple opened the venue after having been associated for years with old Red Lion on Main Street.

Mike Stinson will be the musical guest for the club's anniversary show. Stinson's new album, The Jukebox in Your Heart, has been met with rave reviews, most recently in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The album is now in heavy rotation on Sirius/XM channels Outlaw Country and Willie's Place, and will almost certainly be in the mix for Best LP/CD in this year's Houston Press music awards ballot, which Rocks Off will unveil later this week.

McGonigel's began selling 20th Anniversary T-shirts Monday that list every artist to ever play the venue on the back.

7:30 p.m. at McGonigel's Mucky Duck, 2425 Norfolk, 713-528-5999 or www.mcgonigels.com.
